Bicycle Encouragement/Bike Month
This Committee supports work to promote biking through our four main encouragement programs: 1) Minneapolis Bike Month-- a month of focused bicycle encouragement events and programs, including Bike to Work Day and Bike and Walk to School Day; 2) Community Bicycle Connectors--a new program focused on working with community-based organizations to help individuals bicycle more; 3) Bicycle Buddies--a program to encourage current bicyclists to inspire and support new people to try biking; and 4) Twin Cities bike portal website--a not-yet-developed website to serve as the one-stop shop for people interested in biking more. This group will have a kick-off meeting on Wednesday, January 18th, and will meet monthly at least through May. Nick Ray Olson is the staff lead for this group.

Downtown Bikeways Team
If you work, live, travel, or are just interested in Downtown bicycle infrastructure, this is the group for you. They focus on supporting activities to build support for new protected bikeways in downtown. They meet monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 6pm. Galen Ryan is the volunteer chair; Ethan Fawley is the staff lead.
University of Minnesota Bikeways Team
The University of Minnesota Bikeways Team is a combination of students involved in MPIRG and community members in the University area. If you bike, work, or live in this area and want to see improvements in safety and accessibility, this is the group for you! The group meets 4-8 times a year with the current focus on the University/4th corridor. This group is currently on a hiatus until Spring of 2017, and the staff lead is Laura Kling.

Event Planning Committee (the FUN Committee)
This Committee is a group that gathers once a month to get together, create community and ultimately plan and support events that the Coalition hosts. These events vary from Advocacy Skillshares, Rides, Happy Hours, and many more - the sky is the limit! We are looking for folks who are interested in connecting with others, bringing joy to biking/walking, love planning or being creative, and taking meaningful action. Join in and make FUN happen! Emily Stumpf is the staff lead.
Open Streets Planning Task Force
Do you love Open Streets? Are you interested in getting a firsthand look into the planning process of a specific route or the whole event? This is the group for you! In January 2017 a group will form that will help plan Open Streets 2017. All folks are welcome. Nick Ray Olson is the staff lead. In addition, there are planning committees for each Open Streets events, which meet 3-6 times a year.
Want to Get Involved with Our PEDESTRIAN Initiatives?
Pedestrian Task Force
The Coalition is taking on Pedestrian Advocacy! We invite all people who are excited about advocating for pedestrians to join us for this monthly meeting. This group is helping determine our pedestrian advocacy priorities and will support making those priorities a reality. The group meets monthly and will set a regular meeting time soon. Julia Curran is volunteer lead; Ethan Fawley is staff lead.
Want to Make the Coalition's Work Have More IMPACT?
This committee supports staff around growing the capacity for our work, typically with a focus on individual donations. It also tracks fundraising progress and reports to the Board regularly. It typically meets monthly on second Mondays at 6pm at the Coalition office. Fundraising experience is not required, but members should have interest in supporting individual giving, Open Streets or Bike Month sponsorships, or grant writing. Sarah Tschida is Chair; Alex Tsatsoulis is staff lead.
