Protected bikeways in Minneapolis need your help!

Contact your City Council Member today to say "I support Mayor Hodges's proposal to fund protected bikeways in the 2015 budget and I hope you will too."

With this funding, the City can build miles of new protected bikeways next year! But protected bikeway funding was criticized recently in the Star Tribune and we need to remind Council members of all of the community support. TAKE ACTION

If you haven't signed a postcard showing your support for protected bikeways, do it now - we're delivering in 2 weeks! Sign a postcard online here.

Election day is Tuesday, November 4. This election--as all elections--matters for biking in Minneapolis. Please vote!

Transportation funding has been a topic of discussion at the state level in the election, so we encourage you to review what candidates for Governor and Minnesota House of Representatives are saying about transportation. READ MORE

Hennepin County Bike Plan draft encouraging

Henn_Cty_Draft_Plan.jpgHennepin County has released a draft 2040 Bike Plan.

We will be reviewing the draft in more detail, but initial takeaways are that the plan offers a smart direction that we hope is supported with some additional investment.

It's notable that a big focus of the plan is providing support for all types of people interested in biking.

Join Bikeways for Everyone Project Task Forces

We are forming Project Task Forces to push for protected bikeways on specific routes that will need a lot of public support to happen. We simply cannot achieve these bikeway routes without strong volunteer support.

Project Task Forces will talk to local groups, residents, and businesses; create pictures, maps, and other communications materials; work with partners; and do other tasks as needed. Each team will have a staff member supporting, a volunteer leader or two, a set of core regular volunteers, and additional volunteers who are helping with individual tasks. To see a map of project routes, or if you are interested in being a part of a task force, please fill out this quick survey.
