Now hiring: Community Organizer (bilingual in English-Spanish)

The Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition advocates for a city where bicycling is encouraged and everyone feels comfortable riding. The Coalition uses the joy and broad public benefits of bicycling to engage, empower, and mobilize grassroots and grasstops support for bicycle improvements. Our advocacy work includes the Bikeways for Everyone campaign for 30 new miles of protected bikeways by 2020. The Coalition encourages participation in decision-marking processes, uses events to reach out to potential supporters, and has an emphasis on increasing equity in Minneapolis bicycle infrastructure. The Coalition hosts a variety of events to engage people about biking and walking and to improve our community, most notably Open Streets Minneapolis and Minneapolis Bike Week. Open Streets Minneapolis is a family-friendly initiative that transforms major city corridors into safe, car-free places for one weekend day to give people an opportunity to enjoy the street on bicycle, foot, wheelchair, skateboard or roller skate. There have been 13 Open Streets Minneapolis events since 2011 and will be 8 events in 2015. We currently have more than 600 volunteers, including 75 regular core volunteers. www.mplsbike.org
