Thanks to everyone who gave their feedback on our potential 2017 bicycle priorities; we've taken your ideas and created our list of high-priority bicycle projects for 2017! Take a look at which projects we will be focusing on this year, and make sure to read below for our pedestrian project process. Pedestrian Priorities Survey
We are expanding our work to include pedestrian advocacy along with bicycle advocacy! Since we're a small office with limited resources, we need your help to shape our direction and priorities around pedestrian advocacy work.

Expanding protection on Washington Avenue
Washington Avenue will have a world-class protected bike lane in the heart of downtown later this year! We're interested in your thoughts on what the bike lanes should look like on Washington Avenue in the Mill District (from 5th Avenue South to 35W). Please fill out this quick survey. We'll be sharing the summary of the survey results with County and City staff and elected officials and it will help inform our final advocacy in the area. You can read more about the project here.

Bicycle registration bill introduced
You may have seen that a Minnesota Legislator introduced a bill to require registration and fees for people to be able to ride in bike lanes. This ridiculous idea is discriminatory and unworkable. As it stands, it is very unlikely to go anywhere. If you live in his district, by all means contact him, but we encourage Twin Cities cyclists to speak up for local issues that you can have an impact on.
You can have much more impact talking to your City Council Member about a bike lane proposal in your area. There are a number of current proposals where your voice can make a real difference. Find a project near you and be heard!

Bloomington Avenue Bike Lanes
The City of Minneapolis is planning to add buffered bike lanes to Bloomington Avenue in Minneapolis, between 54th St E and Minnehaha Parkway. This improvement will make the street safer for cyclists and other road users, but the removal of some parking to accommodate the safety improvements has brought out a few vocal opponents.
If you live in the area, it's a great time to contact your local Council Member in support of safer streets.

Laying the Foundation for a Pedestrian Agenda
The Pedestrian Work Group has been meeting to help set the priorities for the Coalition's pedestrian work (remember to take our survey!), and in December met to brainstorm priorities in three main areas including Policy, Infrastructure, and the "E's" (equity, enforcement, education, encouragement, engineering).

January BAC Engineering Meeting

Bicycle Accidents, Crashes, and the Law
Join #MPLSBikeAttorney Daniel Brazil as he presents a coffee hour on what to do if you get in a bicycle accident, an immediate response to a crash, and how to interact with Bicycle Laws.
